Beautifully played.About this free Solitaire game
Solitaire – also known as Klondike or Patience – is the world's favourite single-player card game. It is easy to learn, calming to play and endlessly replayable, which is why millions of people enjoy a quick game every day.
Our version uses a clean, classic green table and large, easy-to-read playing cards. Moving cards is effortless: simply tap or click a card and it moves to the best available place automatically.
How to play Solitaire
The goal: move all 52 cards to the four foundation piles at the top right, one pile for each suit, in order from Ace to King.
- The tableau is the seven columns of cards. You can place a card on another card that is one rank higher and the opposite colour – for example, a red 6 on a black 7.
- You can move a group of face-up cards together if they are already in the correct order.
- When a face-down card is uncovered, it turns over automatically.
- Only a King (or a group starting with a King) can be placed in an empty column.
- Tap the deck in the top left to draw new cards. When the deck is empty, tap it again to recycle the cards.
- Tap any card to move it automatically – to a foundation if possible, otherwise to the best place in the tableau.
Draw 1 or Draw 3?
- Draw 1 turns one card at a time from the deck. It is more relaxing and easier to win – perfect for a calm break.
- Draw 3 turns three cards at a time, and only the top one can be played. This is the traditional, more challenging version.
Switch between them at any time using the Draw button. Your choice is remembered for next time.
Solitaire strategy tips
- Uncover hidden cards first. Prioritise moves that turn over face-down cards, especially in the longest columns.
- Don't rush to empty a column. An empty column is only useful if you have a King ready to move into it.
- Play Aces and Twos immediately. They are always safe to send to the foundations.
- Be careful with higher cards. Sending a card to the foundation too early can leave you without a place for lower cards.
- Use the deck wisely. Before drawing, check whether any tableau moves are possible.
- Use Hint and Undo whenever you are unsure. There is no penalty for experimenting.
Why Solitaire is so relaxing
Solitaire combines gentle focus with a satisfying sense of order. Each move brings the cards a little closer to perfect sequences, and finishing a game feels wonderful. With no opponents and no rush, it is the perfect game for a short, peaceful break.

Can every game of Solitaire be won?
No. Like real cards, some shuffles cannot be solved. Draw 1 games are won much more often than Draw 3 games. If you get stuck, simply start a new game.
