Board cleared
Wonderful. Ready for another game?About Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire is one of the most loved free tile games in the world. Unlike the traditional four-player game of Mahjong (often called Mah Jongg), Mahjong Solitaire is played alone: tiles are stacked in a layered layout, and your goal is to remove them all by matching identical pairs.
Our version uses clear, easy-to-read tiles and a soft, peaceful design. Every new board is created so that it can be solved, and if you ever run out of moves, you can shuffle the remaining tiles and keep playing.
How to play Mahjong Solitaire
- Find two identical tiles – for example, two "5 Dots" or two "East" wind tiles.
- Both tiles must be free. A tile is free when no tile is on top of it and it has an open side on the left or the right.
- Tap or click the first tile, then its matching partner. The pair disappears.
- Keep matching pairs until the whole board is clear.
Free tiles look bright, while blocked tiles are shown slightly darker – so you can quickly see which tiles are available.
The tiles
- Dots (blue, with a circle) – numbered 1 to 9.
- Bamboo (green, with a bamboo stick) – numbered 1 to 9.
- Characters (with a red symbol) – numbered 1 to 9.
- Winds – East, South, West and North, each with a small letter to help you.
- Dragons – Red, Green and White.
Helpful buttons
- Hint: highlights a matching pair you can remove right now.
- Undo: takes back your last match.
- Shuffle: mixes the remaining tiles if you are stuck.
- New game: starts a fresh board.
Mahjong Solitaire tips
- Free the tall stacks first. Tiles in the middle of the board hide many others underneath, so open them early.
- Open the long rows from the ends. Removing tiles at the edges frees the tiles next to them.
- Look before you match. If three identical tiles are free, choose the pair that unlocks the most new tiles.
- Remember all four copies. Most tiles appear in pairs of pairs. Avoid matching two copies if the other two would then be trapped.
- Use Undo to explore. There is no penalty, so feel free to try different paths.
Why Mahjong Solitaire is so relaxing
Scanning the board for matching tiles is a gentle, focused activity. Each pair you remove brings a small moment of satisfaction, and watching the layered layout slowly disappear is calming. With no timer and no score pressure, it is a perfect game for a quiet break.

Frequently asked questions
Is this Mahjong game free?
Yes. Mahjong Solitaire on 7cub is completely free to play, with no account and no download.
What is the difference between Mahjong and Mahjong Solitaire?
Traditional Mahjong (Mah Jongg) is a game for four players with special rules and scoring. Mahjong Solitaire uses the same tiles, but you play alone by matching free pairs until the board is clear.
Can every game be won?
Every new board is created so that a solution exists. Because the order of your matches matters, you may sometimes get stuck – then simply use Undo or Shuffle.
Why can't I select a tile?
The tile is blocked. It either has another tile on top of it, or tiles on both its left and right sides. Remove nearby tiles to free it.
Can I play Mahjong on my phone?
Yes. The board automatically resizes to fit your screen on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers.
